Clinical Problem Solving 2022


We had our Medicine CME on ' Clinical Problem Solving' held on the 25th of January 2022.




The previous day I had an amazing time with all my medicine colleagues, juniors and our HOD Dr. Rakesh Biswas rehearsing for our big day and also  making the necessary arrangements for our CME with the help of  our administration PG Dr. Aparanjhi who helped us with rangoli with our logo of Clinical Problem Solving. 


The aim of our CME was mainly to  help our undergraduate students, our interns  understand not only the basics of all the topics discussed but also how sometimes it becomes difficult to come to a diagnosis and the complexities we deal with while managing a patient and how to approach them, be it even a simple fever case. And the importance of a case blended clinical approach which would help expand our knowledge better. 

Our CME started at 8am following a welcome speech given by Dr. K Vaishnavi and me ( Dr. Aashitha D).

Following which a prayer was sung beautifully by our undergraduate Dr. Saranya on the Vedik Shloka "Sangachhadwang"
 Following which we had the lighting lamp ceremony by our honorable Principal Ma'am, Dr. Shruti Mohanty Ma'am, our Vice principal sir, Dr. Krishna Murthi, our Medical Superintendent sir, Dr. Edwin Luther sir, our GM sir, Dr. Souri Reddy sir, along with our HOD, Professor, Dr Rakesh Biswas sir along with our guest from PGI Chandigarh Dr. Akshay Anand sir.

After the lighting lamp ceremony,  a welcome speech was given by our Principal Ma'am. 


The conference started with our final year 
postgraduate Dr. Adepu Vaishnavi discussing on a very interesting case of Neurobehchets with our global expert Dr. Michele Meltzer who works as a rheumatologist in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and is affiliated with Jefferson Health-Thomas Hospitals. She has given amazing inputs along with differentials for this case, our other expert Dr. Kaushik Sundar, who is a Consultant Stroke and Interventional Neurologist at RTIICS Kolkata also provided his inputs on our case.

Following this Dr. Binod working as an Associate professor of Medicine at the Medical college of Wisconsin, also specialized in multiple myeloma, plasma cell disorders  discussed with our PG Dr. Rashmitha on her interesting case of Multiple Myeloma.

We invited Dr. Akshay Anand, on to the stage next.
Dr. Akshay Anand who works as Professor at Neuroscience Research Lab, Department of Neurology, and Prof.In-Charge, Centre for Mind Body Medicine, PGIMER, Chandigarh. 
He discussed with me, Dr. Aashitha Dhavala, on a case of a middle aged man with dementia from the molecular level and also advised all of us to expand our thinking and not keep  our thoughts limited while evaluating cases. 
Dr. Akshay Anand was awarded a momento by Dr. Laxmi Narasamma Ma'am and Dr. Rakesh sir.

I further discussed how brain autopsy is the only way to confirm the diagnosis in cases with Neurodegenerative disorders.

A small 10 minute tea break followed.

Session started with another beautifully sung prayer by a Prayer sung by Kavya on Saraswathi Vandhana
The next discussion was on our follow up case of a young man with Iatrogenic Cushing's syndrome who recently presented again with Adrenal insufficiency. The case was presented by Dr. K  Vaishnavi followed by inputs from Dermatology department and our SR, Dr. Hareen sir.

Dr Usha Shree next spoke about a 45 year old man who was admitted with Fever and suspected Leptospirosis along with few points on Ventilator Associated Pneumonia.

Meanwhile Dr G Usha, consultant physician from Durga Bhai Deshmukh hospital, Obstretric physician joined us, as one of the experts.

Lunch break was announced for an hour 
All the faculty from all the departments, delegates and registered students were provided lunch at our canteen by the administrative department.


Post lunch session:

We started off our session on an interesting case of Obstructive Sleep Apnea by  Dr. Ajith Kumar followed by a presentation by Dr. Trisandhya,  second year, from orthodontics.
 

Dr. Preeti Nair,  Professor of Oral Medicine, PCDS, Bhopal provided her inputs as well.

The next presentation was on one of the most interesting cases during my residency , a 21 year old woman post ureterosigmoidostomy with metabolic acidosis presented by our PG Dr. Nikitha Shirine. Dr. Usha Ma'am provided inputs on anion gap and metabolic acidosis.

Dr. Sushmitha K, our final year postgraduate presented a case on Chorea and Dr. Kaushik Sundar, who is also a member of  movement disorder committee, India helped us in knowing more about how to approach and differentiate movement disorders.

Dr. Divya Chaintanya, our final year PG spoke on the atypical presentations of Acute Pancreatitis following which Dr. Usha Ma'am provided useful inputs.

A 10 minute tea break was announced

Dr. Zain Alam, had to do an online presentation as he was on covid isolation, he presented a case on Myxedema coma.

Following this Momentos were awarded to students based on their clinical problem solving skills by Dr. Usha and Dr. Rakesh Biswas. 

 Dr. Aditya Samitinjay from our senior batch PG, 2018 was awarded a momento for his clinical problem solving skills, thank you sir for attending our CME.

Few students from the interns along with 2k17, 2k18, 2k19 batches also received momentos for their clinical problem solving skills and hard work.

This was a token of appreciation from our side which would further encourage our students to grow and learn further. 

The presenters received momentos as well.


A momento was given to Dr. G Usha Ma'am by Dr. Rakesh sir.
We broke the ceremony after playing the  Indian  national anthem.

We would  like to thank our guest speakers,
Dr. Michele Meltzer, Dr. Binod Dhakal, Dr. Akshay Anand, Dr. Kaushik Sundar, Dr. G Usha, Dr. Preeti Nair. It was an honor to have all of you and for taking the time out for us, for teaching us and making our conference a success. 

Special thanx to Dr. Akshay Anand sir and Dr. Usha Ma'am for taking the trouble to come all the way to Narketpally for our conference. 

We would like to thank our Principal Ma'am for providing this wonderful opportunity.  For allowing us, final year postgraduates to present in a CME and for trusting us with it.

Thank you for this wonderful opportunity we are never going to forget.
